Our Story

Our partnership was founded by Walter H. Oury in 1935 in premises on Eton High Street. We’ve been providing straight talking advice ever since.

1940 – Walter H Oury

The Reid Oury partnership broke up due to Major Reid’s significant absenses to the pub. Walter Oury managed to obtain premises at very short notice at 18 High Street in Slough, now at 62 High Street, and commenced to practice on his own account as ‘Walter H Oury’ assisted by his wife. The practice slowly grew.

2017 – Toby Awards

In 2017 Oury Clark held a special event in memory of one of our partners who sadly passed away in 2015, Toby Smith. The event was a celebration of Toby’s life and as part of this, the company decided to create an award for a member of staff who best represented Toby’s Values. This has since become an annual event each summer.

Present Day – Oury Clark

In the present day, Oury Clark is still privately owned and has grown to over 150 staff, operating out of its two (recently refurbished) offices. Oury Clark continues to pioneer in bringing professional services under one roof, for better answers, better service and frankly because having them all separate is a silly plan. It is one of the largest independent firms in the Thames Valley, while sitting also at the top table of London and Partners as a Gold Member. It helps about 300 businesses a year get started in the UK. And it continues to try and ensure that it takes its job seriously, but not itself.
